Who are you?

Choose kindness. Choose silence. Explain yourself to no one. Choose your happiness and no one can use your happiness. Never judge feelings, judge actions. How you love and how you speak of others is a direct reflection of how you've learned to treat yourself — and people do see it. Some choose to accept it. Some choose to whisper, sometimes not so subtly, and others both see and interpret that too. Envy is a potent and sometimes tangible emotion, worn way too proudly on the sleeve.

Busybodies flock, the meek know their bounds.

Give when you can, learn to take if you truly need. Be a love letter to yourself and vulnerable enough to let others read it. Talk to the future and recognize in time when it listens and only beckons back what you chose to create within it. For every boundary you create, unlock another door. Say yes from time to time. Listen, talk a little less. Be present. Be seen, don't try to be seen. Indecision is far worse than poor precision. Believe you have worth and believe others do just a bit more. Talk your shit at the bottom of an empty well, listen to your own echo, or climb out and shake some hands — you can't chase two rabbits at once. Keep your treasures in a chest, wear a smile a little prouder. I die and you do too. If we are lucky, we get to choose what we do with our time until we get there. Squander energy to vampires or burn it like incense with others that enjoy the aroma.

It has taken an immense amount failures, learning lessons on my own, being vulnerable to all the wrong and all the right people, and a willingness to show a little humility to reflect and subject myself to honest, personal rebuke to overcome much of the hubris I've met within over time. The better you are at it the easier it is to spot that turmoil in others as well and that presents an opportunity to be the better part of their days too. One of the most commendable things anyone can do is be honest with and start repeating the better parts of themselves.

Someone once told me that I am always kind even when I have every right not to be. I don't believe that's true. Always be kind because they do not have the right not to be. That is for them, not you.

life in jest. folly and fumble. be better every tomorrow.
